Our Story

About the Michigan Wealth Advisory Group

The club that trains students to be wealth advisors.

Why We Started
MWAG founder presenting a wealth management case study
Goldman Sachs
Executive Wealth

Most finance clubs on campus focus almost exclusively on stock pitches and portfolio management. When our founder spent a summer in Executive Wealth at Goldman Sachs Ayco, the reality of the industry became clear: wealth management isn't about stock picking. It's about high-stakes planning, which means navigating tax strategies, executive compensation, and estate planning.

Then, when every advisor we spoke with recommended pursuing the CFP® track, we realized Michigan's existing student organizations were missing the mark entirely.

The MWAG Difference

We built the Michigan Wealth Advisory Group to bridge the gap between classroom finance and real-world wealth advisory.

The Standard Campus Model The MWAG Approach
Focuses heavily on stock pitches & trading Focuses on comprehensive financial & estate planning
Exclusivity based on networking small talk Merit-based focus on practical industry skills
Prepares students for traditional IB/PE paths Prepares students for CFP® knowledge & national competitions
Our Mission
MWAG is the leading student organization at the University of Michigan dedicated to Asset and Wealth Management.

Following our motto of learning through teaching, we're closing the financial literacy gap at Michigan by building educational resources accessible to students with passion.
